Abstract
163,401. Jung, A. J., and Godward Carburettor Co. (London), Ltd. Jan. 20, 1920. Spray carburettors.-The fuel passage a cf the nozzle A communicates with a narrow surrounding free air conduit c by a series of minute holes B situated above the normal fuel level X and below the outlet of the air conduit or the nozzle. The passage may be produced by a tube C and may be sub-divided by ribs. The tube is surrounded by a conical coiled-spring air valve J which opens to admit air around the tube as the suction increases, but there is always a free passage for air through the tube C and past the holes B. An additional lower row of holes B may be provided through which air may enter the passage a. The air and fuel are delivered into an expansion chamber, the air being controlled by a valve H. An inverted conical baffle may be fitted over the nozzle. A modified form of nozzle is shown in Fig. 4, in which the upper end of the narrow air passage c is closed and air enters through the holes B to mix with the fuel which is discharged through a divergent aperture A<2>.
