Abstract
160,858. Draper, G. C. Aug. 21, 1919. Clinometers.-The instrument is for use on aircraft and comprises an articulated pendulum device consisting of a lower weighted part 3 universally supported at 9 in a casing 4 secured to the aircraft, and connected by a ball and socket 12 to an upper indicating - member 2, also universally supported in the casing. The member 2 has at its upper end a model 14 of an aeroplane which bears a pointer 12a coacting with graduations on a transparent dome 16. The model 14 assumes the same position in relation to the plane surface 6 as the aeroplane does in relation to the horizontal plane. In the modification shown in Fig. 5, the model is carried by an arm 26 secured to the aeroplane and the dome 19 is mounted on a pendulum device 32 which is supported by gimbals from the aircraft.
