Abstract

160,042. Leadbeater, J. W. Jan. 17, 1920. Composition fuel.-Peat from the black or lower strata of the bog is finely disintegrated by any ordinary machinery and thoroughly mixed with ground caustic lime, or with hydrate of lime, or one or more alkalis having similar properties; the peat may be used in its ordinary undried state or water may be added to it. The mixture of peat and lime is then mixed with fine ground pitch or tar or with both and with an oil, such as tar oil, mineral oil, or fuel oil or a mixture of such oils. Finally, small or finely-ground coal is added. The proportions of the materials used may be 168 lb. of peat, 4 lb. of lime, 8 lb. of pitch or tar or both, 2 to 3 lb. of coal, and 10 per cent of oil.
