Abstract
158,021. Donisthorpe, F. W., and Dye Impression Photos, Ltd. Sept. 30, 1919. Dye-impression processes; developing and after treatment; finishing.-Relates to the process of printing positives from dyed silver negatives as described in Specification 13874/07. To obtain a satisfactory absorption of the dye into the undeveloped parts of the silver negative, the negative is treated in a preparing bath containing a sufficient quantity of an acid such as oxalic acid. A preparing.bath containing vanadium oxalate with an excess of oxalic acid and a ferricyanide may be used. The base on which the dye transfer prints are made may be coated with hardened gelatine, and dyes, such as patent blue, are used which have an affinity not only for soft gelatine but also for hardened gelatin. Commercial papers such as baryta coated papers or art papers may be used for the prints. The prints may be enhanced by coating the print when dry with clear transparent oil or varnish to render the surface of the print transparent. Such treatment also makes the prints waterproof.
