Abstract

157,835. Machado, F. Sept. 18, 1918, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Act]. Circular-flow type; reversing.-A casing 1 is divided by a partition 5 into two sections housing two rotors 6, 7 which are secured to the same shaft 4 and contain oppositely disposed helical working passages A, B for forward and reverse driving respectively. Motive fluid is admitted to one of the hollow ends of the shaft by means of a valve 18 or a valve 25, and flows through one of the expanding helical passages A, B, which are partly bridged by spaced vanes 13, 14. Exhaust takes place through a duct 20 which may be connected to the exhaust space of the idle rotor by a valve 23.
