Abstract
In a housing (4), sealed by a cover (3), a positive electrode (1) and a negative electrode (2) are arranged. The two electrodes are separated from one another by a separator (8). The positive electrode contains electrolytic gamma -manganese dioxide, from 6 to 16% by weight of graphite powder and poly(vinylpyrrolidone), and the negative electrode contains metallic cadmium and has a porosity of 55-75%. The cover is elastic and consists of nickel-plated spring bronze having a Vickers hardness of from 100 to 150. To improve the shelf life, the cover (3) is inserted in the housing (4) with mechanical prestress, a sealing ring (5) and a washer (6) made of "Teflon" being located in between. <IMAGE>
