Abstract

154,355. Marks, E. C. R., (Aktiebolaget Indunstare). Sept. 3, 1919. Vapours, utilizing, for effecting further evapora. tion; film evaporators.-Sulphite lyes and similar liquids are concentrated by evaporation in successive stages under the same temperature and pressure in evaporators in which the liquid is circulated in films and which are heated by the generated vapours after they have been compressed. The evaporator is of the kind described in Specifications 12462/11 and 22670/11, and comprises vertical externally-heated tubes c on the interior of which the liquid is distributed in films by devices c<1>. The vapours collect in a chamber below the tubes c and are forced by a compressor i into the heating-chamber g containing the tubes c. Baffles are fitted in the heating-chamber g. The evaporator is divided by partitions d<2>, e<2> into two compartments a, a' and b, b<1> in which the liquid is circulated by separate pumps m, m<1>. As the rate of evaporation is higher at low viscosities, a saving of heating-surface is effected by partially concentrating the liquid in the compartment a, a<1> before it passes, through a pipe k, to the compartment b, b<1> in which the concentration is completed.
