Abstract
1537192 Heat insulating article AIKOH CO Ltd 19 May 1977 [8 June 1976] 21177/77 Heading C3N A heat insulating article for use in the treatment of molten steel comprises a mixture of 1-10% of Cr 2 O 3 , either as chromic oxide as such, or contained in a material consisting of or containing a mixed oxide or chromium hydroxide as the elements of Cr 2 O 3 , 50-95% of other refractory material, 0À5-40% of inorganic fibrous material, and 1-10% of a binder, the percentages being expressed by weight relative to the weight of the mixture. The mixture may include 0À5-8% by weight of an organic fibrous material, e.g. pulp. The inorganic fibrous material may be asbestos or rock wool, the other refractory material may be siliceous sand or olivine sand, and the binder may be a phenol resin or sodium silicate. The Cr 2 O 3 may be present as pure chromic oxide, chromite, chrome-magnesite brick, chrome-silica brick, chrome-alumina brick, or as baked chrome hydroxide which has been recovered from waste liquor from a chrome plating process.
