Abstract
1280006 Forming mould hot-top linings FOSECO TRADING AG 26 June 1969 [26 June 1968] 32415/69 Heading B5A [Also in Divisions B3 and C3] Ingot mould hot-top linings are prepared by dewafering a slurry of refractory materials. A composition containing 5-50% wt. of pulverised fibrous material and 50-90% wt. of particulate refractory material with sufficient liquid to make the composition damp is prepared. The composition is transported from its place of manufacture to a foundry where it is to be used amd further liquid is added to form a slurry which is vacuum dewatered to form a hottoplining. A composition containing (by weight) and additionally 17% wt. of water to eliminate dusting was dispersed in water to form a slurry with 17% wt. solids content. Test pads were made by filtration at 45 p.s.i. through a 60 mesh screen. In a further example the newsprint used above was replaced by waste cardboard boxes.
