Abstract
1536010 Dispensing volatile liquids; venting tanks HIRT COMBUSTION ENGS 31 Dec 1976 54520/76 Headings B8N and B8V In the transfer of a volatile liquid to and from a storage container 18 the emitted vapour is vented to an incinerator 48, mixed with air and ignited. The pressure of the gas above the liquid level in the container is sensed and the venting is controlled by the pressure to ensure complete combustion. Changes in container vapour pressure occur both in filling from a tanker 25 and filling vehicle tanks 15. Air is supplied to the burner 63, Fig. 2, of the incinerator along line 65 and vapour along line 53. A second parallel vapour line 54 of larger diameter is used when high pressures occur in the container to a burner 90. A pilot burner 101 supplied from a propane cylinder 100 ignites the mixture.
