Abstract
1535351 Lead chromate-containing pigments TEN HORN PIGMENT CHEMIE BV 12 Jan 1976 [13 Jan 1975] 01000/76 Heading C4A A pigment material containing at least 50% lead chromate and having a low content of acid-soluble lead of less than 5% by weight calculated as PbO is prepared by bringing together an aqueous solution containing lead ions and one containing chromate ions with formation of a lead chromate-containing precipitate and with maintenance of an acidic pH during precipitation, after which the precipitate particles are coated by precipitating thereon a coating material, and after which precipitation for the coating of the particles the pH is adjusted at a value lower than 7, the precipitate is separated from the solution and is processed to the pigment material, the precipitation of the lead chromatecontaining precipitate being carried out without previous addition of a pH buffering agent in the presence of chloride ions or of chloride ions and aluminium-containing ions by bringing together the aqueous solution containing lead ions and the aqueous solution containing the chromate ions which latter solution additionally contains sulphate ions and, in the absence of aluminiumcontaining ions, further contains molybdate ions, maintaining an excess of lead ions in the reaction medium during precipitation and coating the precipitate particles with a silicon compound and antimony compound-containing coating.
