Abstract

1535264 Laminates SOMMER EXPLOITATION 2 Feb 1976 [3 Feb 1975] 04003/76 Heading B5N A non-woven covering material having a facing layer of textile threads comprises a layer 1 of parallel juxtaposed textile threads 3, each formed from a plurality of twisted fibres, superimposed on a supporting layer 2 to which the threads are individually fixed by needling some fibres of each web to the supporting layer. In an optional embodiment, a second layer of threads 11 is superimposed on and at least partly covers the layer of fibres, fibres of the threads of the second layer being needled either to the first layer of threads or to the supporting layer. The threads may be of wool, cotton, sisal, coir or synthetic material and the supporting layer paper, a polypropylene or polyester film, a cloth or a knitted fabric. An apparatus for making the material is described.
