Abstract

1,228,431. Carpet backing. JUTE INDUSTRIES Ltd. 20 June, 1969 [21 March, 1968], No. 13687/68. Headings D1K and D1R. A carpet backing composed of a woven fabric of flat warp and weft yarns formed from a synthetic resinous material has a mat of fibres or fleece laid over it and is fed to a needling machine where the fibres or fleece are needled to the intersections of the warp and weft yarns thereby securing them. The resinous material may be polypropylene or polyethylene and the woven fabric may be heat set before or after needling. The fibres or fleece may be of viscose rayon.
