Abstract

1535164 Hot runner manifold ROHM & HAAS (UK) Ltd 2 Dec 1975 [3 Dec 1974] 52253/74 Heading B5A A hot runner manifold comprises a plurality of tubular arms which radiate from a common inlet and have a swan neck configuration in which the longitudinal axis of each arm at one end is perpendicular to and in a plane parallel to said axis at the other end. The tubular portions 310 terminate in nozzles 311 having coil heaters 312 and are fed from a common inlet tube 301 having coil heaters 304 and a throat 302 forming a seat for the nozzle of the injection cylinder (not shown). A flanged cylinder 306 forms an insulating air gap 308 and is connected through insulation 307 to a plate 305 for supporting the manifold on the mould plate (not shown) which may be screw threaded on to the tube 301. The nozzles 311 have grooved flanges 313 in which are seated shrouds 314 to form an insulating air gap 315. The nozzles 311 are located in a mould plate by lugs 316 and may alternatively be attached to a mould plate by shrouds 114 (Fig. 1, not shown) having flanges engaging behind the nozzle flanges (113).
