Abstract

1534473 Jointing by stamping; welding by pressure METALLOXYD GmbH 23 May 1977 [26 May 1976] 21635/77 Headings B3Q and B3R [Also in Division H2] A bundle 1 of mutually insulated conductor strips are cold pressure welded together and to a terminal connector 2, by at least one hole 10, 10<SP>1</SP> produced by cold pressure welding and extending through the bundle 1 of strips and into a part, e.g. plate 9 or strips 5 as shown, of the connector 2. The electrical connection may be improved by spray metallizing (8) an end face of the arrangement (Figs. 1a, 1b, 1c, not shown). A hole 10, 10<SP>1</SP> may pass right through the connector 2, a copper rivet being disposed in the hole to improve the fastening effect. The welding is effected by apparatus (Fig. 3) comprising a support 30 and a welding mandrel 34 having a spherical head 35, the mandrel 34 being carried by a plunger. A pneumatic or hydraulic ram effects movement of the mandrel, or a manually operated lever may be employed.
