Abstract

759,722. Wire terminals; sleeve couplings. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Oct. 13, 1954 [Oct. 15, 1953], No. 29526/54. Class 38 (1). [Also in Group XXII] A butt-welded joint 5 between aluminium and copper members 1, 2 is surrounded by a gasket 6 compressed to form a moisture-tight seal by indenting a flange 4 integral with mem. ber 1. Fig. 4 shows a modification wherein an undercut flange 12 is formed on the copper member 11 and a trapezoidal gasket 14 surrounding the joint 13 is held compressed against this flange by a second flange 15 formed by deforming axially the aluminium member 10. Both members 10, 11 may be tubular, as shown, or member 11 may be solid. Alternatively member 11 may be flattened and pierced for connection to a terminal.
