Lift valves; casings. -In a screw - down valve which is opened and closed by a screw action between a cap valve e and a supply conduit a, the supply conduit is directly coupled with an internal formation in the casing k in the form of Hange j with gaps therein which co-acts with a similar flange i on the supply conduit in the manner of a bayonet-joint. A packing m is retained by a third flange c. This arrangement avoids the use of screw-threads in the casing and enables the casing to be externally or completely enamelled without impairing the connexion.
