Abstract

1528791 Automatic control of knitting machines H STOLL & CO GESCHAEFTSFUEHRUNGS GmbH 25 Sept 1975 [27 Sept 1974] 39216/75 Heading G3N [Also in Division D1] A patterning device for a knitting machine comprises a store 10 in which pattern information relating to a basic motif or motifs is stored and another (needle) store 13 in which information relating to the manner of application of the pattern information to the knitting is stored, each having an associated counter 11, 12 respectively, the needle information operating on the pattern information to enable the basic pattern to be repeated, reversed, knitted in mirror image or otherwise varied. Input 25 allows the motif or motifs to be programmed into the store 10 which contains information for a maximum 256 x 256 stitch motif. Manual selector 23 allows pre-selection of counter 11 position and counter 24 determines the orientation of the pattern. A presentation input 21 selects the desired variation of the pattern and loads one of eight possible instructions into each location of the needle store 13 so that there is one instruction per needle. A pulsed input 20 controls the rate of feeding of pattern instructions modified by needle instructions via logic circuits 14 to the needles at 22.
