Abstract

1528569 Remotely-controlled lockers BRUNEL UNIVERSITY 29 Sept 1975 [27 June 1974] 28537/74 Heading E2A Each of a plurality of lockers has a door of which the lock may be unlocked by means of a solenoid. Power is supplied to the solenoid through a circuit controlled by a switch which is, in turn, operated by the removal or replacement of a token from a storage position. As described the token is a permanent magnet and the switch a leaf-switch which closes when the magnet is put in position. Opening or closing the switch generates an electrical pulse in a pulse circuit. This pulse, via timers and relays, allows a current to pass for a short time, after a delay, to the solenoid and thus permit the door to be opened during this short time. Closing the door automatically engages the lock.
