Hinged sliding windows; sashes balanced one against another.-In a hinged sliding sash window having the sashes balanced one against the other with the addition of weights to the lighter if necessary, the sashes are made of unequal height so that by reversing their positions a ventilation opening 24 is left at the top of the frame. The lower part of the parting bead is hinged or otherwise removable, and the inside bead is hinged on the opening side of the sash. A metal or like tongue in the frame fits in a rabbet in the sash to exclude draught &c.
