Abstract

1525999 Counterbalanced jib cranes L BUZZICHELLI and K ROY 10 Nov 1976 [19 Nov 1975] 46734/76 Heading B8H Counterweight arm and jib 2 are both pivoted at O on a supporting structure 5 and form a pendular assembly swinging about the point O automatically and taking a balanced position irrespective of the load on the jib 2 which may be lifted by a cable (not shown) passing over point A1 or point B1. As shown the jib 2 is articulated at A1 and adjustable by a cable 9. Adjustment of cable 8 varies the operating radius of the jib 2 by adjusting the angle between the counterweight arm 1 and the jib 2. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown) the jib 2 is unitary and has two or more hooks. Alternatively the jib 2 may have a trolley movable along the jib 2 with a single hook suspended therefrom (not shown).
