Abstract

1525922 Railway track switches HAWKER SIDDELEY DYNAMICS Ltd 43102/74 Heading B7L A switch for vehicles following a road or trackway comprises a guidance slot 20 in the road or trackway leading to two branch slots 20A, 20B, and a member 1 or members 11 forming a terminal section of a side wall or side walls of the guidance slot, said member or members being movable laterally by a switchactuating mechanism so as to align the terminal section of the guidance slot with one or other of the branch slots. In a first embodiment, a wedge-shaped member 1 is carried by pivoted links 2, 3 and is moved by actuating member 5 to direct a vehicle along branch slot 20A or 20B. In a second embodiment, the guidance slot terminates in members 11 which may be flexed between branch slots 20A, 20B. The members 11 are supported at positions C and D by channelshaped members running on rollers, said channel-shaped members being connected together by an arm pivoted at a point intermediate the positions B and C, Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown).
