Abstract
1482521 Track guidance system HAWKER SIDDELEY DYNAMICS Ltd 1 Aug 1974 [1 Aug 1973] 36565/73 Heading B7L [Also in Division El] A system for switching track guided vehicles from a mainline A to a branch line C comprises vehicles equipped with two sets of switch wheels 4, that run along switch rails 7, 8, each of which sets is lockable in one of two positions, indicated by solid and dotted lines in Fig. 2. The vehicle is also fitted with guide wheels 2 which engage walls 3 at the edges of the track. In a modification, Fig. 4, the guide wheels 2 engage the outside faces of combined guide and switch rails, and only one of the switch wheels 4 is positioned to engage a rail at a junction where it is locally thickened. In a variation of this modification, Fig. 5 (not shown), the upper switch wheel engages a switch rail which is heightened as well as thickened. In a further variation, Fig. 7 (not shown), the upper switch wheel is laterally displaced and engages side walls at the edge of the track.
