Stropping-apparatus; cutting-edges, shaping and treating; wheels and other tools.-In a device for sharpening the blades of safety razors, the blade 16 is supported by a holder 10 comprising a bar having a slot 11 therein, of greater width than the maximum thickness of the blade, and provided at its ends with pivots supported in the frame of the machine, one pivot being screwed to receive a clamping-nut whereby the bar may be adjusted and set angularly on the pivots. The blade is placed in the slot and is held between the sharpening-rollers 1, 2 the outer edge being moved up and down by hand to the extent allowed by the slot; the angular setting of the bar is adjusted to permit of different degrees of movement of the blade to suit the angle of the cutting-edge. The rollers are rotated by hand in the direction shown by the arrows; the rollers may be of steel as described in Specification 143,335.
