Abstract

1525470 Finishing fabrics G T PARKINSON 9 Oct 1975 [11 Oct 1974] 41366/75 Heading D1S A run 12 of knitted fabric panels with the draw cord still intact, is drawn over a stretching frame 2 resting on a steam relaxing bed 1 by a pair of rollers 4, 5 supported by a frame 3, the rollers 4, 5 being driven at the same peripheral speed and the frame 2 abutting the roller 4 only so that the fabric panels leaving the frame 2 are drawn downwards and through the nip 14a between the rollers 4, 5, the arrangement being such that the frame 2 is not drawn into the nip. The roller 5 is driven by an electric motor 14 through a transmission and operated by remote control. A third roller 7 defines a nip 15 with the roller 4. The rollers 4, 5, 7 are formed of metal or rubber and the roller 4 is raisable by a lever 11. Preferably, the frame 2 is coplanar with the axis of the roller 4 although, in operation, it may abut above this axis. The treated fabric passes through a guide 9 to a folding apparatus 13.
