Abstract

1525242 Tras-shipping at sea REDPATH DORMAN LONG (NORTH SEA) Ltd 30 Dec 1975 [31 Dec 1974] 56195/74 Heading B8E Apparatus for unloading modules 24 from a barge 25 and elevating them to be deposited on the deck 23 of an offshore platform 20 comprises extensible telescopic members 26 connected by pivotal links 27 to the platform under the control of lifting wires 28 leading to winches 30. The end of the column 31 of the members 26 has a cross head 37 with two tines 39 pivoted at 38 under the control of a jack 41. Jacking means 34 engages collars 35 to cause extension while resilient means such as an annular rubber block 36 cushions the column 31 in the main tube 29. A module 24 on rails 43 or fixed blacksmith resilient buffers is engaged by the tines 39 with the resilient means 36 cushioning sea movement of the barge and is lifted by extension of the members 26 under the control of the wires 28 with the tines 39 held horizontal by actuation of the jack 41 until it can be slid on to the deck 23.
