Abstract

The mixing unit for the continuous gentle mixing of solids with solids and/or flowable compositions and/or gases is a centric rotary mixer having a feed zone (28) equipped with a feeder screw and having a cylindrical to conical mixing zone (26). A drive shaft (24) is used to drive a rotor of the centric rotary mixer having the feed zone (25) and the mixing zone (26) in the stator (27). The surfaces of the rotor (39) and of the stator (27) are provided with pimples or ribs (30, 31) which are arranged helically in the region of the mixing zone. The highest elevations of the rotor and of the stator envelop an annular gap (29) whose radial width (35) corresponds at most to the height of the pimples and the ribs. By virtue of the obliquely pitched pimple flanks, the product slides over an inclined plane, any strong impact and rebound effects thus being avoided. <IMAGE>
