Abstract

1516052 Indicating braking capability WARNER ELECTRIC BRAKE & CLUTCH CO 31 Dec 1976 [7 Feb 1976 20 Feb 1976] 54405/76 Heading F2E In a safety system of the type which automatically provides energization by a battery TB of the coils C1, C2 of brakes in a trailer 10 under breakaway condition, a voltage threshold indicator 35 is connected across the battery TB and coils C1, C2 and enables the driver to test the battery and clearly determine if the battery has sufficient storage capacity to keep the coils adequately energized while load current is being drawn from the battery and supplied to the coils themselves. A current threshold sensor 45 prevents the indicator from providing a "safe" signal if the excitation circuit to the coils has been interrupted or if one or more of the coils has become disconnected from the circuit.
