Laminar springs.-Means for obviating or regulating the friction between the leaves of laminar springs consists of a plate of indiarubber or other suitable material inserted between the leaves at or near their ends. Simple plates may be used held in place by adherence or by an adhesive, but conveniently sleeves b, Fig. 2, are passed over the ends of the leaves, or shaped caps f, Fig. 5, are placed on the ends. Bending of the spring produces distortion of the rubber &c. with or without slipping of the rubber on the leaves, as desired, in the case of the sleeves.
