Abstract

1514459 Ventilators J M GALE 5 Aug 1975 [19 Aug 1974 5 Sept 1974] 36409/74 and 38903/74 Heading F4V A ceiling slot diffuser or boot comprises two flaps 7 for controlling the volume and direction of airflow through a slot 5a in a housing 1, the flaps 7 each being pivotally mounted along one edge 9 within the housing so as to be independently pivotable between a closed position in which the flaps 7 are in mutually overlapping contact to prevent airflow through slot 5a and an open position in which the flaps are separated, the flaps 7 having bent edge portions 12 which are directed towards one another when the flaps 7 are in the open position. Each flap 7 may be formed by flap segments in end-toend abutment and independently pivotable, so that the air flow pattern may be varied along the length of the flap. The housing can be an aluminium extrusion or can be made from sheet metal, plastics or glassfibre, and can be square or triangular in cross-section.
