Abstract

1514309 Electrophotographic copying machines MINOLTA CAMERA KK 24 Nov 1975 [30 Nov 1974 4 Dec 1974 16 Jan 1975] 48200/75 Heading B6C The sensitive surface 2a of a photoconductive drum 2 in a photocopying machine is freed from moisture prior to a copying operation by means of a heater 18 so disposed within the machine that the drum 2 is located within a hot air stream emanating from said heater 18. Preferably the machine includes fans 8, 7 for introducing fresh air into the vicinity of the drum 2 via duct 10 and extracting it via ducts 11, 16 to remove ozone and nitrogen oxides formed in the corotron 3. Fan 7 also extracts air heated by the exposure lamp 6. The extraction system may include an ozone-absorbing filter (f 1 ), Fig. 11 (not shown). In the machine shown, the latent electrostatic image formed on the drum 2 is transferred to a copy sheet on which it is liquid developed. The invention is also applicable to copiers using dry development of the image on the drum 2 and transfer of the resultant toner image to a copy sheet.
