Abstract

1512397 Seals SAUNIER DUVAL 24 Oct 1975 [31 Oct 1974] 43910/75 Heading F2B [Also in Division F4] A sealing device, e.g. for connecting a gas heater 5 to a combined inlet and outlet pipe 3, comprises a tubular flexible gasket 15 having adjacent one end a radial face 14 and a contiguous annular surface which mate seals respectively with the end surface and a cylindrical surface of the pipe 3, and at the other end a cylindrical skirt 15, which in use abuts the rear face 12 of the heater 5, and a circular collar 16 located in the bore of the gasket 13 for resiliently biasing the one end of the gasket against the end of the pipe 4. In the embodiment, the pipe 3 is built into a wall 1 and supports a concentric telescopic outlet conduit 8. The gasket 13 is held in contact with the end face of the pipe 3 by a coil spring 17 between the outlet conduit 8 and the collar 16. The gasket may have an annular groove mating with the pipe 3 as in Fig. 1, or a step as in Fig. 2 (not shown). The flexible skirt may be in the form of bellows.
