Abstract
1507036 Program loading STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd 8 July 1975 28674/75 Heading G4A A program is entered into a non-volatile random access memory 10 from a combined keyboard and display unit 11 which displays each item as it is entered for checking and which can access the memory to display a stored item. Memory 10 plugs into a connector array 13 and has a plug 14 for connection to a processor in place of the normal program read only memory connection. Memory 10 may be volatile with an internal battery charged by unit 11 whenever it is plugged into that unit. Programs are assembled in memory 10 with a visual check and can be run on the processor for a further check. Unit 11 includes an arrangement to freeze a display when a program is being run. When a satisfactory program has been assembled the memory 10 is unplugged and used in the production of a programmed read only memory storing the same program. The PROM is then used with the processor.
