The purified gum which is extracted from the outside portions of the grass tree (Xanthorrhoea) or from the crude gum by the use of the lower-boiling spirit fractions (up to 180 DEG C.) derived from the distillation of coal, tar and the like, may be used in the manufacture of soaps.
