Abstract

1504797 Heat-treating silicon steel sheet KAWASAKI STEEL CORP 22 April 1975 [23 April 1974] 16685/75 Heading C7N Cold-rolled silicon steel sheet at final gauge is decarburization annealed at 700-900‹C in wet hydrogen whereby a surface film of SiO 2 is produced. It is then coated with a separator comprising MgO and 1-20 wt per cent TiO 2 , based on the total wt of the separator, coiled, and given a further anneal, particularly 10-100 hours in nitrogen at 800-900‹C to develop recrystallized (110) [001] grains followed by a final anneal at 1000-1200‹C in hydrogen. At least 98 wt per cent of the TiO 2 is #44Á and at least 80% is #20Á.
