Abstract

1495790 Hinges ED SCHARWACHTER KG 25 April 1975 [26 April 1974] 17294/75 Heading E2F In a hinge device for holding a door 4 in an open position, one component 2 of the hinge device is attached to the door and has a portion 7 extending beyond the axis of the hinge pin 1, a detent roller 8 is mounted on the other hinge component 3 secured to the frame 6 and the roller 8 is supported on one limb 17 of an S-shaped torsion bar spring 11 adapted to swing about an axis parallel to the hinge axis from a position in which the roller 8 is disposed in the path of movement of the portion 7. The hinge component 3 may be of channel-shaped crosssection such that another limb 12 of the spring is supported in flanges 14 formed on the component 3. In an alternative embodiment (Figs. 4-6 not shown) the spring is located in flanges provided with guideways formed in a retaining member (23) engaging a surface (22) of a hinge component (22).
