Systems for alternating-current motors only.- Relates to a device for controlling the torque of an alternating current driving motor by varying the current supply as the load on the motor is changed. The current supplied to the motor 9 is varied by varying the magnetic saturation of cores carrying windings 12 and hence varying the impedance of the windings, which are in series with the supply conductors 10. The current for saturating the cores is obtained from a direct current generator 18. The approximate adjustment of the torque of the motor 9 is obtained by means of a resistance 19 included in the circuit which supplies current from the generator 18 to the coils 13. As the load on the motor is increased, the current supplied by the generator 18 to the saturation coils 13 is automatically increased, the impedance of the windings 12 is decreased, and hence the current supplied to the motor increases to correspond to the change in load on the motor.
