1493772 Synthetic rubber tackifier compositions V M KOSTJUCHENKO E P PANOV A G SHVARTS N A PRUZHANSKAYA N Y VASILIEVYKH and G V FATEEVA 22 April 1976 16398/76 Headings C3P and C3R Synthetic rubber mixes comprise by weight (1) 100 parts of synthetic rubber, (2) 1À5 to 3 parts vulcanizing agent, (3) 1 to 2À5 parts organic accelerators, (4) 3 to 5 parts vulcanization promoters, (5) 40 to 70 parts filler, (6) 1 to 2 parts dispersing agent, (7) 5 to 20 parts plasticizer and as tackifier (8) 0À5 to 10 parts of an alkylphenolamine resin prepared by condensing at 120‹ to 180‹ C. an aminomethylating agent with a mixture comprising (a) 70 to 97% mono(C 4-12 alkyl)phenols and (b) 3 to 30% 2,4- and/or 3,6-di(C 4-12 alkyl) phenols to give a product having a molecular weight of 500 to 2000, a softening point of 50‹ to 130‹ C. and a nitrogen content of 0À4 to 5À0%. The rubber may be a cis-polyisoprene, cis-polybutadiene, butadiene/ styrene copolymer, butyl, ethylene/propylene copolymer, polychloroprene or nitrile rubber. The tackifier may be a reaction product of hexamethylene tetramine or formaldehyde and ammonia with mixtures of p-t.-butyl/octyl/ dodecyl phenols with 2,4- and 2,6- di(C 8 alkyl)- di(C 8-12 alkyl)- and -di(C 4-8 alkyl)-phenols, or mixtures of p-t.-butylphenol or octylphenol with 2,4- and 2,6- di(C 8 alkyl)phenols. The fillers may be carbon black or a silicic acid derivative. The dispersing agents may be higher fatty acids. The plasticizer may be a mineral oil, petroleum bitumen, or petroleum or coumarone/indene resin. The compositions may also contain antioxidants, e.g. aromatic amines and condensates thereof with aldehydes and ketones, and agents to modify adherence and coherence, e.g. resorcinol/hexamethylene tetramine condensates and N - 2 - methyl - 2 - nitropropyl - 4 - nitrosoaniline on a china clay carrier.
