Abstract

1493028 Cutting tools TH KIESERLING & ALBRECHT 27 March 1975 [28 March 1974] 12914/75 Heading B3B A cutting tool comprises two cutting elements 2, 3 of hard metal or ceramic material welded in position in edge grooves of a support member 18 made from a material less brittle than the cutting elements, e.g. steel, the said elements 2, 3 being separated by an intervening portion 17 of the support member and each being formed with a step 8, 9 to guide chips cut from a workpiece. The top surface of the intervening portion 17 is flush with the top of the cutting elements 2, 3. The cutting tool is clamped in a tool support and may be indexed 180 degrees about axis 19 to present an alternative cutting edge.
