Abstract
1492177 Aircraft high-lift flaps BRITISH AIRCRAFT CORP Ltd 8 Oct 1975 [17 Oct 1974] 46146/74 Heading B7G An aircraft wing 1 having a high-lift leading edge flap 2 is formed at spanwise-spaced intervals with arcuate tracks 5 each guiding a roller 6 mounted on the rear end of a rod 7 which provides at its forward end a mounting for the flap 2. An intermediate cylindrical portion 7a of the rod slides within a fitting 8 pivotally mounted at 9 on a wing bracket 10 and formed with arms 14 each having a slot for a roller 15 mounted on the leading portion 11 of the wing. The leading portion 11 comprises a flexible upper skin 12 which extends around the leading edge into a lower skin portion 13 abutting a fixed skin portion 16. When the rollers 6 are moved forwardly in their tracks the rods 7 are moved through the fittings 8 which tilt about pivots 9 causing the flap 2 to move to the extended drooped position shown by full-lines. Simultaneously tilting of fittings 8 and associated arms 14 causes wing nose portion 11 to droop downwardly by deflection of skin panel 12, thereby forming slot 17. The invention may be applied to the forward region of a pivotable lift-increasing flap.
