Abstract
1496519 Aircraft wing flaps BRITISH AIRCRAFT CORP Ltd 8 Oct 1975 [18 Oct 1974] 46145/74 Heading B7G An aircraft wing 1 is formed at its trailing edge by a deflectable flap comprising a portion 7, carried by a pivoted lever 4, a rigid lower skin 15 secured to the undersurface of the lever 4, and a flexible upper skin 12 secured at its leading edge to wing 1 and at its trailing edge to flap portion 7. The lever 4 is mounted on the wing by pivot 2 and actuated by a screw jack 5, and a bellcrank 9 is pivoted at 9c to lever 4 and connected to wing 1 by a push-pull rod 10, the skin 12 being further secured by links 13 and 14 to rod 10 and bellorank 9, respectively. The bellcrank 9 further carries a roller 11a which co-operates with a slot 11b in a member 8 which forms a forward extension of wing portion 7, and a roller 6a at the aft extremity of lever 4 co-operates with a further slot 6b in member 8. In operation contraction of jack 5 rocks lever 4 clockwise as viewed about pivot 2 and the restraint provided by rod 10 causes bellerank 9 to rotate anticlockwise, the freedom of movement provided by sliding pivots 6 and 11 enabling the portion 7 and the upper and lower skins 12 and 15 to be moved from the dotted line to the full line deflected position.
