Mountings.-Consists in apparatus for controlling and actuating the movements of two integers which are movable relatively and conjointly such as certain ordnance movements, one movement being effected or controlled by connecting the controlling valves or devices of the engine to a pivoted or floating- lever or like mechanism and the other movement by connecting the sleeve or casing of the controlling valve or other co-acting controlling part by a straight-line motion linkage to a hand-wheel, telemotor or like. For double steering gears for ships, two double-acting rams A, B, Fig. 1, with racks A1, B1, operate quadrants A4, B4, on the rudder post R, the ram cylinders A2, A3, B2, B3 being connected by pipes M2, M3, K2, N3 with a controlling member containing valves F, G, Fig. 2, and sleeves F4, G4. The valves F, G have rods C3, D3, connected by links with arms C, D on the rack members A, B and also by links C4, D4 with a lever E pivoted at E1, and carrying a main controlling-rod E3. The sleeves F4, G4 are controlled by the reciprocation of a main control-rod L1, through a cross-head L and rods F5, G5. The relative positions of the ports in the sleeves and casings are such that on movement of the pivoted lever E the rudder members A5, B5 are moved conjointly for steering and on movement of the cross-head L the members are moved relatively for manoeuvring. In a modification, the valves move in a fixed casing without sleeves, and the pivot lever is carried by a block which can be reciprocated. This reciprocation of the lever and corresponding reciprocation of the valves takes the place of the sliding sleeves. Alternatively, the first pivoted levers C2, D2, to which the valverods C3, D3 are attached, may be pivoted to slidable blocks.
