Abstract

1487438 Sterilizing apparatus G GLORIEUX 31 Jan 1975 [1 Feb 1974 24 Oct 1974] 4390/75 Heading A5G Apparatus for sterilizing contact lenses by immersion in a heated sterilizing liquid comprises an inner container 7 for the sterilizing liquid which fits slidingly into an outer container 1 with a cover 6, and electrodes 9 designed to be attached to a source of electric power. When the outer container is filled with a predetermined quantity of heating liquid and electrical power is applied, the liquid is heated, preferably to boiling, thus heating the inner container and its contents. If and when the heating liquid boils away (positioning of the electrodes and a slight slope of the base of the outer container ensuring that the great majority of it can be so removed) the heating effect is automatically terminated. The inner container may include a support device e.g. attached to the lid 3 and adapted to hold the particular articles to be sterilized, these being contact lenses 22 and 22' in the illustrated embodiment.
