Abstract
1486784 Photographic light absorbing layers POLAROID CORP 21 Oct 1974 [23 Oct 1973] 45461/74 Heading G2C A photo-sensitive element comprises at least one silver halide emulsion layer and a layer containing carbon black and a water-soluble salt of a heavy metal capable of forming a sulphide that is insoluble in water, e.g. a water-soluble salt of silver, copper, platinum, palladium, zinc, cadmium, lead, iron or bismuth, such as a nitrate, fluoride, sulphate, perrhenate, bromide, chloride or acetate. The carbon black layer, which may be an opaque antihalation layer, may be coated directly on the silver halide emulsion layer or on the opposite side of the support, or may comprise an opaque backing layer for a receiving layer of a photo-sensitive film unit for the silver salt diffusion process and may be a removable backing layer of a film unit as described in Specification 1425659.
