Abstract
1484068 Filling multi-core cables WESTERN ELECTRIC CO INC 15 Aug 1974 [15 Aug 1973 (2)] 35957/74 Heading D1L The interstices of multi-conductor cable, particularly of the spirally graded type, wherein the conductors have a minimum yield strength of 10,000 1bs at 0.5% off-set, are filled with a water-proofing and flame retardent composition by passage through a bath thereof, the configuration of the conductors being changed by passage over a series of rollers 26, 27 and 28, the cable being reformed by outlet die 29 of chamber 21. The conductors may subtend a maximum angle (α) [Fig. 3 (not shown)] to the horizontal of 20-70‹.
