Abstract

1460794 Electrical connection J D KINNEAR 5 April 1974 [9 April 1973] 15209/74 Heading H2E A cathode 26 for an electroplating barrel is attached to a rubber-sheathed cable 22 by a metal sleeve 34 having a tapered portion receivable in a socket 54 of the cathode. The sleeve and cable are pushed towards the cathode by die plates 62, 64. The socket 54 and tapered portion are dimensioned such that the sleeve deforms to give a smooth compressive connection 72 on the multi-strand conductor 40. In another operation (Fig. 5, not shown) a die (78) crimps the upper part of the sleeve 34 against the sheath 32 to give a sealed joint 84.
