Abstract
1483281 Cable glands CLARK EQUIPMENT CO 9 July 1974 [13 Sept 1973] 30450/74 Heading H2E A device for mounting electric lines 28 in a fluid conduit comprises a fluid passage 35 to be in communication with the interior of a conduit, and means for mounting electric lines including a threaded member 22, a nut 34, and a grommet 30 deformable (but preferably non- compressible) into sealing engagement with the electric lines on tightening the nut. The device may be "T" or "Y" shaped. The electric line, or the fluid passage may pass straight through in a "T" shaped device. The grommet is preferably in one part, but may be in two (Fig. 4, not shown). The insulation of the electric lines may be split where they pass through the grommet, and the spaces between strands may be provided with a setting compound to aid sealing. A collar 32 may be provided dependent on the nut used. Since the conduit may undergo changes in length due to pressure variations the lines may be laid under tension, or in serpentine or helical fashion dependent on the expected changes. An extension may be provided at the line entry to enable a coil of line to be incorporated in the device while not obstructing the fluid passage (Fig. 6, not shown). The use of the device in combination with a fluid conduit on a fork lift truck is described.
