Abstract
1482742 Toolholders WICKMAN WIMET Ltd 7 Aug 1974 [9 June 1973] 27576/73 Heading B3B A tool holder having a detachable insert 11 has a clamping means for the insert comprising a clamping bar 16 engaging in a hole 14 in the insert to clamp it against a back face 13 of a shank recess, a top clamp 20 arranged to engage the top of the insert to clamp it against a bottom face 12 of the recess and having an inclined face 21 arranged to engage an actuating element 26 for the clamping bar, and a screw clamping member 22 actuable to move the top clamp 20 to engage the top of the insert and to engage the actuating element 26 so that the insert is simultaneously clamped against the faces 12, 13. The top clamp 20 includes a lateral extension which overlies the insert and which is made flexible relative to a sleeve portion by the provision of an undercutting slot 24. The clamping bar 16 is pivotable about a part spherical portion which engages the side of a stepped bore 15. The free end 18 of the clamping bar is enclosed in a slot of a plug 17 so that angular setting of the plug limits the degree of pivoting of the actuating element.
