Abstract

1480765 Reactor cooling INTERATOM INTERNATIONALE ATOMREAKTORBAU GmbH 9 Aug 1974 [10 Aug 1973] 35281/74 Heading G6C A nuclear reactor installation incorporates a secondary coolant conduit 9 by-passing shutoff valve 11 of main coolant conduit 6; the conduit 9 is for cooling when the reactor is shut down, its cross-section is made sufficient therefor, and a variable-power pump 7 circulates coolant through both conduits. In the embodiment there are control rods, e.g. 3, a regulator 5 for closing valve 11 and the secondary coolant circuit includes a control valve 13, a further valve 16 (neither valve being fully closable), a fixed throttle 10 and a fully closable valve 17. The object of the invention is to avoid too rapid cooling if a main conduit only is provided.
