Abstract

1476862 Biocidal composition for waterbased fluids H W ROSSMORE 28 Jan 1975 [13 Nov 1974] 3750/75 Heading A5E [Also in Division C5] A composition for combating microbial deterioration of a water-based fluid when introduced into the fluid in antimicrobially effective amounts consists essentially of: (1) a hexahydro-1, 3, 5-tri C 1 -C 4 alkyl-s-triazine or a hexahydro-1, 3, 5- tri C 1 -C 4 2-OH substituted alkyl-s-triazine, (2) an alkali metal salt of EDTA, and (3) a bis-tri-C 1 -C 4 alkyl tin oxide, and optionally contains (4) a cationic quaternary ammonium compound such as dimethylbenzyl alkyl ammonium chloride. The composition finds application in the treatment of cutting fluids, paint booth water treatment supplies, paper mill effluents, aqueous cooling towers, and fibre spinning emulsion systems.
